Hi, I’m Karen!
MA, BS, RN, IBCLC, LCCE, CPST
Karen has been working with young and growing families since 2001 – first as a parent-to-parent volunteer support person through La Leche League International and now as a board-certified lactation consultant, registered nurse, childbirth educator, craniosacral fascial therapist and infant feeding specialist.
She is well-versed in basic lactation support as well as complicated, hard-to-solve breastfeeding and infant feeding issues. But most importantly, she listens to understand and specializes in individualized, goal-centered client care and support.
But why a peacock?
Simple answer? Because Karen likes them – a lot. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and color of peacocks and have collected a plethora of them for much of my life. When I began studying and practicing yoga and learned about the symbolism of the peacock associated with the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, I was even more enamored of the peacock. Imagine my surprise when I, as a lactation consultant, learned that addition to often being depicted with peacock feathers and peacocks, Lakshmi, as the goddess of household wealth and harmony, floats on a river of milk! So as I was redesigning my logo after nearly two decades of working as an IBCLC, a peacock with a drop of milk seemed more than fitting. And my graphic designer ran with the idea and created a logo that is very unique and special to me.
